DanmiSoft (Suntec City Mall, Singapore)

A little too sweet and lacking the milky taste. Milkcow still pretty much owns the market in terms of product quality.

Density Frozen Custard (Short St, Singapore)

THE first known frozen custard shop in Singapore. Density would probably have to work a little harder at getting its name out there and perhaps at the same time, ensure their frozen treat doesn’t melt so fast.

Pong Gelato (*Scape, Orchard Link, Singapore)

WITH Pong Gelato, you’ll only need to travel as far to *Scape in Orchard to get your coconut ice cream in a husk fix.

Milkcow (The Cathay, Handy Road, Singapore)

IT is an unfortunate case that Korean brand Milkcow didn’t have the first mover advantage in Singapore but Taiwanese Honey Creme instead. After all it is Milkcow that is one of those that started the soft serve craze in Korea. But better late than never. It’s soft serve does have a distinct milk flavor so don’t compare it with the 50 cents cones.

Dex2Rose Nitrogen Gelato (Lt Bourke St, Melbourne CBD)

LOCATED in probably what used to be a warehouse, Dex2Rose looks to be my favorite place to hang out in the Melbourne CBD for its eclectic gelato choices, spacious interior and ample seating.

Royal Croquet Club (Birrarung Marr)

THE Royal Croquet Club at Birrarung Marr ends February 1. There are three days left to head down to enjoy the outdoor atmosphere. And make sure you pick up one of Messina’s gelato creations along the way. Just worth the calories.

Honey Creme (313 Somerset, Singapore)

KOREAN style soft serve ice cream is the latest fad in town with the opening of Honey Creme (which is in fact a Taiwanese brand). At a price of about $5.50, it could be considered overpriced. There are some people who are saying it is overrated. Nonetheless, it makes a milky, enjoyable dessert with some of the creations it has to offer.

Seriously Ice Cream (Everton Park, Singapore)

Seriously…Ice Cream…??? I know I should be encouraging small businesses in Singapore instead of putting them down given the blood, sweat, efforts and money entrepreneurs have put into their businesses, so I hope you  readers don’t see me as being

Beegurt (Thomson V Two) & Honeycomb (Bali Lane) – a tale of two soft serves

A TALE of two soft serves – Froyo from Beegurt and Soft Serve Ice Cream from Honeycomb. Beegurt’s Froyo was rather promising while Honeycomb’s soft serve ice cream was lacking, and was probably more gimmick over substance

Helados Jauja (Lygon St, Carlton)

HELADOS means ice-cream (in Spanish). If you’re in Carlton, do consider Helados Jauja which serves quality ice cream that is smooth, silky and creamy. The only drawback at Jauja – the Price!

Gelobar (Lygon St, Brunswick East)

Not a poorer cousin of Brunetti’s.   There are similarities between Brunetti’s and Gelobar. Both offer coffee and savoury items. Both offer patisseries. Both offer gelato. Both are located on Lygon Street, except that Brunetti’s is on Lygon St, Carlton
